Question : my husband is complaining of constant cramping in his whole body. He is taking potassium, drinking plenty of water and Gatorade. We are in Florida so it is hot most of the time. I have searched online and calcium and magnesium were mentioned.

Brief Answer:
A number of reasons

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns for your husband.

The whole body muscle cramping can occur due to a number of causes including mineral deficiencies of calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and vitamin deficiencies of including thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), and pyridoxine (B6). Other causes include thyroid hormonal imbalance and even dehydration.

I would recommend that he gets a blood testing for muscle enzymes as CPK, aldolase, LDH, AST, ALT) to exclude muscle injury .

Also, he should measure his blood levels of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium to determine if he is in need for their supplements or not. Also, a daily multivitamin supplement containing thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), and pyridoxine (B6), can also help relieve muscle cramps.

In addition to checking on his blood levels of T4, T3, and TSH to exclude thyroid hormonal imbalance.

I hope I answered your question.
Feel free to ask further.
Regards
