Question : About a week ago I had a stomach ache which led to diarrhea and frequent trips to the bathroom. I didn’t think much of it and took some over the counter anti diarrhea meds. But as the week has progressed my system have gotten worse now my movements are loose and contain a lot of mucus. I get little or no warning and the consistency is loose and usually dark.

Brief Answer:
Parasitic infections or worms.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Loose stools with mucus mean it is most likely a worm infection. Possibly amoebiasis or Giardiasis.

You need anti helminth medications for complete treatment.

Sometimes a stool test would be better before medications.

These medications are not over the counter. So you need to see at RNP or PA clinics for short prescription.

Hope I have answered your query.
