Posted on Mon, 28 Dec 2015
Question: For exactly one month I have had sharp, and dull pain on my left side and under my breast... My dr said 2 weeks ago that it was a pulled muscle and gave me naproxen and a muscle relaxer. Fast forward 2 weeks..... Pain is worse..... I take naproxen as soon as I get up... I take 600 mg of ibuprophen at lunch... Naproxen in the evening.... And sometimes I get up in the middle the night and take ibuprofen. I have done this for a month now..... I have used ice and heat..... I thought I had A rib out of line.... Therapist could not find it. It is very sore when I push on my rib cage on the left side… After the physical therapist examined be I could barely get up and walk.... If I miss a dose of medicine… I can barely walk… Sharp pains when I inhale and exhale

I feel sorry for this much pain you have. Please don't stop taking medicines for pain and add Omeprazole as a stomach cover to avoid stomach issues due to pain medicines.

Meanwhile, ask your treating Physician to go for a CT Scan of thoraco-Lumbar region. Muscular, bony issues, any clot or a tumor will all come clear on CT. Also your suspicion of being a displaced rib can be answered by CT Scan.

Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you with my expert opinion.
