Question : My 4 year old had her vaccinations 9 days ago, at which time she was found to have an ear infection. She's been on amoxicillin for 8 days for the ear infection. She has had a persitent fever of around 101-102 for 3 days. Could this be from the vaccinations or possibly another infection?

Brief Answer:
possibly not related to vaccination

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Vaccination usually causes fever but only for 2 to 4 days at the maximum.
I think there are two possibilities:
1. Resistant bug causing ear infection which may need change in antibiotics.
2. New infection in throat or a viral bug.
It is better to get her examined to clarify these possibilities.
Continue Tylenol for fever meanwhile.
Ensureshedrinks plentyof liquids to keep her hydrated.
