Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Left lower abdominal pain could be related to spasm or large bowel (colon) but it should be further evaluated by complete clinical history, clinical examination and various tests.

But before further discussion,i would like to know,

Do you Have any change in bowel frequency in this last 3 months?
Was pain relieved after bowel evacuation?
Any nausea or vomiting there?
Have tried any medications yet or undergone any tests?

Kindly get back to me with these answers.I will give my opinion after that.

Yes ... bowel frequency has been intense and yes, pain is relieved after bowel evacuation. No nausea or vomiting. No, I haven't taken medication or undergone any tests. Amazingly, since I asked the question, I have experienced some relief. My bowels have calmed down and the pain has noticeably abated.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for sharing more information.

From all your answers,I can say that your lower abdominal pain could be due to bowel spasm which is likely to get relieved after bowel evacuation. So there is nothing to be worried much regarding any bowel pathology.

You may take pain killer combinations like Tab.ibuprofen 400 mg with muscle relaxant like metaxalone (Brand name:Skelaxin) if pain appears again.

Take antacid tablets (like Pantoprazole 40 mg) twice daily if you have stomach upset or gas trouble.

Take plenty of fluids (simple water or lemon water) with lots of fruit juices (apple juice) for next 3 to 5 days. It would also be important to maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance (sodium, potassium) which in turn will help to reduce spasm.

Avoid oily/spicy/fatty food and take soft diet only for initial few days.

Hope this helps.
