What Causes Persistent Nasal Drainage, Hoarse Voice And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Oct 2016
Question: For several weeks I have had nasal drainage which doesn't look like infection, along with my voice which has changed and is hoarse and I feel tired. Heart and Lungs checked and they are okay. My white count is up bit. I saw an ENT Doc about a month ago and was told my vocal chords looked okay but I didn't have sinus x-rays or transillumination of them. She thought this might be due to Esophagitis which I had recently I read recently about some chronic condition of the sinuses causing symtoms similar to mine. What is your advice?

Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation, oral antihistamine, decongestant nasal spray

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
I would have examined your nose & sinuses by doing diagnostic nasal endoscopy to see any chronic source of infection.
Provide additional information
Is it associated with sore throat?
Do you have sinusitis?

Changing weather fronts, cold temperatures, or excess dryness in the air, Certain foods (for example, spicy foods may trigger mucus flow) Fumes from chemicals, perfumes, cleaning products, smoke, or other irritants. These are the triggering factors, if present kindly try to avoid it.

I would suggest you
1.Drink plenty of water, especially warm, drink at regular intervals.
2. Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil 3 to four times a day.
3. Use decongestant Nasal spray like xylometazoline. See to it you should use it not more than 10 days.
4. Wash your face with warm water in night before going to bed and gently blow your nose.
5. Oral antihistamine like cetirizine every night for 5 days.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care
