Question: I hit my finger on my ring kinda hard and when I did it felt like the side of the finger went numb. Then a couple mins later it felt like the feeling came back. Then I hit the same finger some what in the same spot, and it felt numb again. This has been about seven days now,and it's still slightly numb. No swelling. That day I hit it again when I laid on it I felt little sensation going g through the finger. Any ideas

Brief Answer:
Normal healing response, will go away. Symptomatic care needed

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. One spot of same finger hit twice by the ring always end up numb for a while and is common and normal response of body necessary for healing.

If there is no visible swelling or reduced range of mobility of finger or any color change then no worries. If yes to any of the above questions then seek an ortho expert and let them assess the damage, it might be a ligament or tendon injury.

Meanwhile All you gotta do is avoid that ring for a while, apply some topical heat therapy and pain killer creams and use some oral ibuprofen etc. It shall be fine in a few days. Peripheral traumas are slow to heal completely. Wait and see and use symptomatic treatment. Keep moving the finger to prevent stiffness.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

As i mentioned peripheral structures take longer duration to heal. Sometimes upto months. If there is no alarming sign i mentioned in my earlier answer then you need nothing to worry about.

It shall subside with the passage of time. You just take precautionary measures and do as directed. Keep the finger warm. It will boost the healing.

I hope it helps.
