Question : Hi I injured my right knee in March this year dropping down off my horse and had some pain on outer knee. Exacerbated it that week as had to do a big walk with lots of steps. That has got better but knee has pain on medial side near patella on movement and thickening and tightening behind knee medial side(inside). Can't straighten knee full extension as I feel it tight behind. This has been sore like this all year after original injury. Can make popping noise at times with movement and can sometimes give sudden sharp pain on outside of knee which makes knee give way but goes away. Knee causes me to limp quite a lot. I have total left hip replacement and need one on my right hip. Right leg is shorter by 13mm

                                    Brief Answer:
Internal knee injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent pain in the knee, inability to extend it and the popping noise is likely to be due to an injury to the internal structures of the knee. A ligament injury or a meniscus tear is likely.
You need to get an MRI scan of the knee done to find out the extent of injury. Till then avoid any painful exercises and use an elastic knee brace for support.
I hope this answers your query.
