I didn't want to be as explicit as I probably need to be to help you help me. I am somewhat horrified. It is spontaneous, persistent, unprovoked, unwanted, sexual arousal that began about one week ago and prevents me from sleeping and is a terrible, distraction when I am awake. I have never had this experience before under any circumstances. The only recent change in my life has been the abrupt discontinuance of a daily dose of 80mg of Celexa about two weeks ago. I need a quick treatment now. This was very difficult to put in writing. I hope my information is tightly controlled confidentiality. Thank you

Brief Answer:
You need to go slow with Celexa or watchful waiting

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

I am sorry to make you uncomfortable but it was necessary for me to know more details.

This is well known withdrawal effect of select and we have two options.

First to wait for two to four weeks. This will completely diaper within a period of two to four weeks. Since two weeks already completed with discontinuation of Celexa it is hoped that you will feel decrease frequency and intensity of arousal over the next couple of days before they disappear completely.

The second choice is to start around 20 mg of select and decrease it gradually.

I hope this helps you.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for my future patients.

Thank you and I appreciate your kind and helpful response. I actually looked up effects of celexa withdrawal on multiple web sites. Ironically, listed as a side effect of taking Celexa, was decreased libido but not the converse. I am relieved that it is a known side affect and will pass. But isn't there any short term medication that would ease the transition?

Brief Answer:
Either Celexa or any other SSRI cane used

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting bac to me with positive feedback.

Since we know the cause the only option for us is to reverse the cause. In this regard other than Celexa, prozac or other SSRI group of medication can be used.

I do not think we have any short term medication for this particular withdrawal effect on this day.

I hope this answers you further.
Thanks and regards.
