What Causes Persistent Swelling And Pain In Foot?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Dec 2015
Question: Hello,
I have swelling and throbbing pain in my left foot. It started last week and increasingly got worse.
It is very difficult to walk and feels better when my foot is elevated. There is swelling initially on the top of my foot and has now migrated to the top and bottom of my foot. I am taking advil and holistic medication and traumeel which is an anti-inflammatory analgesic for the pain.
Could this be gout or an arthritis flareup? I have never had this before.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Any inflammatory condition could cause these symptoms

Detailed Answer:
hi,

thanks for your question. swelling and pain in the foot could be due to any condition which causes inflammation in your foot such as arthritis (gout is a type of arthritis) infection or fracture.

if your symptoms are not improving with the simple measures that you outlined then you should see your family dr for an X-ray and some blood work.

best wishes
