Question : My feet and hands are swelling all the time. I am a little worried as my microalbumin/creat ratio has gone up every year. 2014 was 12, 2025 was 59 and last month was 82. What does this mean? I am diabetic and take metformin and glucofage.

Brief Answer:
See kidney disease specialist (nephrologist ) urgently

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I understand this could be very disturbing . This is an indication of progressive kidney damage . Proteins normally are not to be found in urine in large and increasing quantities .

Consulting a kidney disease specialist (nephrologist) in my opinion is an urgent imperative.

Depending on your blood pressure levels and other tests, a tailored therapy and protocol would be prescribed.

Thanks and kind regards as I wish you the best of health .
