What Causes Persistent Vaginal Bleeding Despite Having Normal Biopsy Report?

Question: I am seeing a Gyno/Oncologist because I started having bleeding after not having a period for 13 yrs. She did a biopsy, which came out negative for Cancer. I saw her a week after the biopsy and was still bleeding. She gave me a prescription for EString in hopes that will stop the bleeding. I have had that in for 3 wks. and am still bleeding. But I am also having a problem with being able to think clearly and am extremely tired. I also had a stent put in 2 months ago (main artery 90% blocked) so I don't know if the tiredness is from the Estrogen or from bleeding too much or if the stent has not totally resolved my problem. Any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear about this persistent bleeding and all the inconveniences this has caused you. No one sleeps well when the fear of a disease condition being a cancer are mentioned.

After a stent, patients are usually give a blood thinner. This might be the reason for the bleeding and the persistence of your bleeding. Could you please provide a complete list of your medications to me for review?

Feeling fatigued and not able to think clearly is probably related to blood shortage. constant blood loss over 3weeks is enough reason to have anemia and all these symptoms are typical of anemia. I will recommend that you get a blood test to evaluate your blood levels. I await a list of your drugs for review.

A list of meds that I am on: Synthroid 100 mcg 1 in A.M., Omeprzole 20 mg a day in A.M., Fluoxetine (Prozac) 40 mg a day in A.M., Clonazepam (Klonopin) .5 mg 1 tab twice a day, Ranitidine (Zantac) 150 mg 2 tabs at bedtime, Tizanidine (Zanaflex) 2 mg 2 tabs at bedtime, Levocetrizine (Xyzal) 5 mg 1 tab in evening, Rizatriptan (Maxalt) 5 mg 1 at onset of migraine, Gabapentin (Neurontin) 300 mg 2 caps 3x a day, Atorvastatin 10 mg 1 in A.M., Nitrostat .4 mg as needed for esophageal spasm, Tramadol (Ultram) 50 mg 2 tabs 4x day, Plavix (Clopidogral) 75 mg 1 in A.M., low dose aspirin, EString 2 mg vaginal ring, and I take a multivitamin daily.

Plavix and low dose aspirin are not helping!

Hi and thanks for this follow up.

Please, plavix and low dose aspirin prevent blood from clotting. This is probably the reason why getting the bleeding to stop is very difficult. Report this to your doctors and let them reconsider these drugs seen the fact that you are bleeding.

I recommend you start taking iron tablets to compensate for the blood loss. I wish you well.
