Question : I had a pimple looking bump on my areola. It didn't hurt but I pressed it and a lot of puss came out followed by a little bit of blood as if I popped a pimple on my face. I am a 48 year old woman, I am not pregnant, nor am I breast feeding or diabetic. My breasts have been tender and fuller for the past four months or so (they fell like I have PMS three weeks out of four in a month). Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
see your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The pimple like lesion on your breast is probably just a blocked duct or an abscess. If it is open and draining and is not having a lot of redness around it, it will clear up on its own. If there is surrounding redness then see a doctor immediately because this may mean infection. I suggest that you also see your doctor fairly soon due to your other symptoms. The breast tenderness could mean that you have a hormonal imbalance or other problem that your doctor could diagnose with an exam and blood tests.
