Hello and welcome.
Thanks for sharing your concern.

First of all its very nice to know that you are following good oral hygiene measures. This itself helps reduce plaque to a greater extent. But some times in few patients, it becomes essential to get scaling(professional cleaning) done due to the excessive degree of plaque accumulation.

Since there is no picture attached here,I would request for a photograph of your upper and lower jaw in present state. Please attach it here,so that I can view and suggest better.

Secondly, there is local anesthetic spray and gels available that can be applied before starting the procedure. Therefore please request your dentist for the same prior to any dental procedures. This would definitely minimize your discomfort.

Thirdly, if you find it in convenient, in a single sitting then you can get the scaling done in three to four sitting as per your convenience and comfort levels.
It is not mandatory to do complete scaling at once.

Now coming to plaque prevention methods, following methods should be practiced to prevent plaque.

1.Twice brushing daily.
2.Using mouthwashes( intermittently,not regularly.)
3.Using dental floss for inter dental areas.
4.Using fluoridated tooth pastes like Colgate and Pepsodent( Please look for its content and go for brands that contains flouride).

Hope it helps.
Let me know for further doubts.
Thanks.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Advised flouride tooth paste

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for reply.

Pain and sensitivity is common symptom post scaling(cleaning).

The reason for that is, when the plaque and calculus(hard deposits on teeth) is removed from the teeth surface, the teeth surface gets exposed to the oral environment. So whenever we eat anything, sensation is felt.Even cool breeze can cause sensation. It will take around two weeks to heal, once the new tissue regenerates and covers that exposed area.

you can use gum paints readily available in market for faster recovery. The answers for your query are given below.

1.You can use chlorhexidine 0.1%mouthwash,as it is very effective plaque reducing agent.
2.1000 ppm flouride is generally recommended.I think XXXXXXX pastes contains herbal ingredients in them. Therefore an Ayurvedic doctor can suggest better in this regard.

3.you can extend intervals of scaling.but clinical examination can explain whether it is required or not.Baking soda causes gingival(gums) burns and infections. Thus never recommended to use on gums.

4.Floss is especially recommended for teeth with tight contacts where the brush do not reach.Teeth having gaps are self maintaining.

Hope it helps.
