Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: I was hospitalized with pneumonia a couple of years ago, had pneumonia again in Sept this year, and now I have severe wheezing. Not the fatigue and phelgm I had previously, but shortness of breath and wheezing is worse.I was prescribed amoxtrkclv, 50 mg prednisone and advair. The wheezing for some reason begins to worsen later in the day and evening.

Brief Answer:
Can be an asthma attack.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely due to an asthma attack. As you had 2 pneumonia attacks a chest x ray should be taken after auscultation in case of any findings.Antibiotics should be started also.
You can continue amoxiclav as it gives good coverage of infection. You can continue advair also.Prednisone will be needed if wheezing is more.In such case you should take that according to your doctors advise. If no improvement then admission to hospital and steroid and antibiotics injections and regular nebulization therapy for 5 to 7 days will be needed.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks
