Brief Answer:
Various causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Polyhydramnios at 5th months of gestation can be due to maternal diabetes, fetal infection, fetal chromosomal anomalies, fetal anemia, or any congenital anomalies in the fetus like tracheo esophageal fistula and duodenal atresia.
I will suggest you to get your Oral glucose tolerance test to detect gestational diabetes, TORCH test to detect any fetal infection, and a detailed anomaly ultrasound by a fetal medicine specialist to detect any congenital anomaly and signs of fetal anemia in the fetus.
Prognosis of the fetus depends upon the cause of Polyhydramnios.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
