Question: Hi Doctor,
Exactly 1 yrs ago I went to a orthopedician since I was having disturb sleep, pain in calf muscles (Later I started feeling in the back at thighs and in lower back then upper back then in soldiers and in tricep muscels and in neck).

The doctor prescribe me some blood test to be done but nothing came out except severe deficiency of Vitamin-D(14.9 nmol/L). He advised me to take some multi vitamins and supplement for Vitamin-D and re-visit after 2 months. I followed the advise strictly for 2 months but I did not feel any benefit.

I again colsulted with the doctor he asked some question regarding my life style, my diet, my social life etc. and prescribed me to stop previous medicine and take SERELIFT in a way that if do not get benefit raise the dose like 25mg to 50 mg then twice a day etc untill you get benefit.

Again I followed the advaised nearly for 1 month then I felt that I am having side effect of the medicine. I informed the docor regarding this problem he advised me to stop above mentioned medicine immeditely.
Later I googled with medicine name SERLIFT and found this is for depression like deseases. I realised that I am not suffering depression sort of desease eventurally I stopped taking such medicines.

After some time I realised that I was having better condition like there was no pain in my body I was sleeping well. But again I satrted facing same problem from the month of march. Initially, I am having excess sleep but still I dont feel refresed or robust. Again I am feeling extreme fatigue, body ache etc.

Now I have started facing another problem related to my memory. When some one try to explaing somthing long or complicated I start facing sort of headache and I just dont want to lister to that thing etc. I am not able to read a long para since start facing the same problem.

I got some blood tests done from thyrocare and found level of Vitamin-D is still low (21). Please advised me what to do what kind of problem I am facing and IS THIS CURABLE.

Thanka a lot!!!

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D deficiency could be the cause....

Detailed Answer:
Hi there...

Thanks for writing in...

I would advise you to visit an endocrinologist to further evaluate vitamin D deficiency.

I am assuming you rechecked the Vitamin D levels after taking Vit D supplements for 2 months.

Sometimes, when all medical conditions are ruled out and still the patient complains of multiple pains, lack of sleep, depression is one of the possibilities.

Please sign up for yoga classes... yoga is beneficial for both the mind and the body. But the results are not immediate.

Regular exercise 30 minutes a day 5 days a week might help... Exposure to sunlight might help correct Vit D to a certain extent.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily.

Rule out snoring / Obstructive sleep apnoea if you are feeling tired after waking up in the morning, in spite of having ample hours of sleep.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
exercise and yoga might help

Detailed Answer:
Hi there....

Your reports are fairly normal other than vitamin D insufficiency and mild elevation of amylase levels.

I would advise you to visit your doctor regarding vitamin D and take supplements.

Elevation of amylase is slightly there. It might be a good idea to rule out problems with the pancreas by doing an abdominal ultrasound. Alcohol should be avoided.

However, I feel exercise and yoga might help you to a great extent with regards to your symptoms.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Dr. XXXXXXX ..

Definitely I will see my doctor for the Vid-D Deficiency and for Abdominal Ultrasound.

Lastly I'll be very grateful if you suggest me about my memory problem as I mentioned above that when someone try to explaing somthing long or complicated I start having headache and I just dont want to listen to that thing. I am unable to read a long para whether interesting / boring or complicated. Also not able to keep those lines that I have just read.

Kindly suggest what sort of test needs to be done or which specialist I should got for to get this problem diagnosed. Or it is just because of Vid-D deficiency.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
yoga and exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
I would say that you might be feeling disinterested about certain things...or you might be worrying about other issues because of which you are unable to focus .
As I said in the previous mail yoga and exercise might help.
Be around people who are positive and motivate you.
Brain games and brain exercises might also help...like lumosity.com etc.
