Question : Hello, I know I have an URI, and lots of congestion and drainage. However, something new happened tonight, I blew nose as I alsways do, and this time i heard and felt a pop in my right ear, and became so dizzy I couldn't talk or lift my head. Now my ear feels full and uncomfortable. Any thoughts on how to ake it more comfortable to sleep? I have already taken cold medicine an hour prior to this happening. Thanks for any insight.

                                    Brief Answer:
URI with eustachian tube blockage
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
The pop up sensation in the ear is due to eustachian tube blockage which is very common after a throat infection.
My advise to you is to continue with the anticold medicine you are taking..alongwith this take xylometazoline nasal drops three times a day..it will help release nasal congestion as well
Don't use any ear drops..
Take steam inhalation and chew a gum..that will help the tube open faster and the pressure will be released.
Any further queries are always welcome
wishing you a speedy recovery
thanks and regards
