Question : I am having popping veins in my hands- this is the 2nd time it happened. What could this be. I am 65 now and in good health. I seem to now have arthritis in my thumb. This is the latest. And the only thing that I have had.

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

I feel that the popping veins are due to a reactionary response of the body to the arthritis problem.

Arthritis causes inflammation of the joints.

This in turn causes increase in the blood flow of the affected part causing popping veins in that area.

Once the arthritis is treated,these veins should come back to normal.

Take anti inflammatory tablets like ibuprofen,tramadol etc.
Get blood tests ( complete blood count,uric acid,RA test and CRP)

Local gel application with hot fomentation along with limb elevation can help.

You should consult a orthopedic doctor for further treatment.
