Question : my wife period came on 20th may, i had sex on 6th XXXXXXX i gave an ipill 12 hours after sex. when we carried out UPT on 20th XXXXXXX it became positive in both hormone test and urine test. how it is possible?

The I pill is less effective post ovulation.

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
See, the I pill is more than 95 % effective in preventing a pregnancy.
So there is always a 5 % risk of failure of the I pill, it is not 100 % effective.
Moreover, after ovulation, its success is even less.
It is highly likely that she had already ovulated on the 6th of XXXXXXX so the I pill has failed in this case.
So that is how she has gotten pregnant.
