Question: nasal passages at the roof of my mouth have been sore for a week now and have caused post nasal drip. This causing irritating coughs, could this be a sinus infection coming on?
Brief Answer:
Possible causes to post nasal drip&cough...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Post nasal drip and irritating coughs could be a sign of
- viral infection (common cold/virosis)
- sinus infection coming on
- allergic rhinitis
- any new (spicy) food you have been consuming during this week.
I advise to:
- drink more fluids (water, tea, juices)
- keep good oral hygiene
- use OTC nasal decongestants
- take OTC ketotifen (to relieve cough). If cough is associated with phlegm, should start a mycolitic (e.g. carbocystein)
If the symptoms will persist or worsen during the upcoming week, I suggest to consult your physician for further evaluation.
Hope it answered your queries! Let me know if you have more questions! I'd be happy to assist you further!
Wish fast recovery!
