What Causes Pre-ejaculatory Fluid To Come From The Bulbourethral And Urethral Glands?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: If pre ejaculatory fluid comes from the bulbourethral glands and urethra glands. Why do some people think it contains sperm? I was told the prostate holds the semen and sperm and when ejaculation happens the muscles push it out. Is this true? I guess this would be a question for a urologist

Brief Answer:
Explained all that was unclear to you sir :)

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. You are right in learning about the pre-ejaculate being produces in the bulbourethral glands (Cowper's glands); and you should also know that the sperm being stored in the epididymis.

The pre-ejaculatory fluid is released when a male is aroused, whereas the sperm is released when the male reaches climax. The reason why some people think that the pre-ejaculate contains sperm is because there was a recent study conducted to check on multiple pre-ejaculate samples from different males randomly chosen. And what was seen was that certain number of males from that test group have a small amount of sperm in their pre-ejaculate, whereas a few others did not.

What was also observed was that all the men who had sperm in their pre-ejaculate always had sperm in their pre-ejaculate; and those who did not have sperm in their pre-ejaculate never had sperm in their pre-ejaculate.

So in conclusion, we cannot be sure of whose pre-ejaculate can cause impregnation and whose cannot unless tested. The reason why this study was conducted was because many women became pregnant with only the pre-ejaculate.

No sir, the epididymis stores the sperm and is release out or pushed out by a stimulus sent before climax is achieved.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.

Wow that crazy basically there hasn't been enough research done to figure it all out. That could also mean some men's prostate leak. I knew about the recent ejaculation but urinating should wash that out. I read about that where 37% had sperm in pre ejaculate. But it also said they may have used actually semen due to inability to produce pre ejaculate. There needs to be more research done. It could save a lot of accidently pregnancies

Also I was told the sperm moved during emmision. So where is the sperm right before ejaculation?

Brief Answer:
Oh yes, they should go about much more research

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

Not prostate sir, that could mean that some individuals vas deferens (exactly where the sperm is stored) leaks.

Oh yes sir, there should be a lot more research conducted in the field, I also feel the same way. :)

Best wishes.

So the sperm is in the vas until climax? The vas leads to the seminal vesicle, then to the ejaculatory duct into the prostate. This is just a little confusing because I dont know were to sperm is when you have an erection. Is is still in the vas. I read that when you get an erection it moves up the vas into the seminal vesicles to the ejculatory duct then to the prostate. But if the sperm doesn't leave the vas till ejaculation then your right that's the only thing it could be

Brief Answer:
A little more information for you sir :)

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

There are 2 stages:

1. During excitement, the sperm from the vas deferens moves to the base of the penis where it is mixed with semen

2. With powerful muscular contractions, the muscles at the base of the penis force the semen and sperm out to the external environment through the penis

So it is possible that in some cases, the sperm that is stored at the base of the penis until ejaculation can leak and mix with the pre-ejaculatory fluid that is already inside the penis; making it possible to impregnate a woman with just the pre-ejaculatory fluid.

Best wishes.
