What Causes Pressure In Cheeks, Nose And Ear?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: I have question about my eye+nose+cheek area. I feel pressure on the side of my right cheek, pressure in cheek bone, some pressure around my nose and ear. Most pressure is on my upper cheekbone and I also have a feeling that corner of my eye has something in it but nothing is in there or it is not red either. The pressure is moving from side of face to nose to cheekbone. Also occasionally I have under eye twitching that can last 5-30 hours. All these symptoms come and go. There are times when I feel them less. Also side of my neck tenses up a little. Sometimes dizziness but only occasionally. I do have dry eyes, and some tooth issues. I had abcessed tooth taken out in October and I know another one needs to come out that is close to sinuses. I do feel like I have sinus issues and sinus headache but I don't have runny nose, or red eyes. When my cheekbone has pressure thn I usually have same side of headache as well. Please advise.. I am really worried about some retinal problems or tumor,

Brief Answer:
might be maxillary sinusitis secondary to dental infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
First of all you have to get a dental checkup to rule out any dental problem that you have mentioned which can be responsible for your symptoms.

Other possibility is that you might be having maxillary sinusitis. Other important thing to notice here is that, tooth infection can be starting point of maxillary sinusitis.
Does it hurt when you apply pressure over cheek bone?

I would have done thorough clinical examination and if required I would have asked for investigation like CT, to confirm the diagnosis.

Presently I would have put medical line of treatment
1. Steam inhalation with few drop of eucalyptus oil in it 2 to 3 times a day.
2. Warm compresses over the affected area of the face.
3. Sleeping with your head side raised will be helpful.
4. Avoiding air conditioning room, use of humidifier will be beneficial.
5. Drink plenty of water especially warm water.
6. Nasal decongestant like otrivin not more than week, installed twice a day.
7. Analgesic and anti inflammatory drug like ibuprofen for 3 days.
8. A course of antibiotic like amoxicillin 500 mg thrice a day for 5 days.

With this measures there should be improvement. Kindly ask your local doctor regarding the medicines as they are prescription based agent.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
