What Causes Pressure In Ears?

Question: my son who is 13 and going through puberty like gang busters, says he feels a slight pressure in his ears. We live in XXXXXXX and currently have a heat wave, our home has A/C which we are constantly coming and going. He is also a competition swimmer and spends at least two hours a day in the pool. He was told by his physician that he would be experiencing changes in his glands and to be aware of them and make me aware of them. He is a healthy kid with a very active imagination and constantly worries about his health.

By what you quote I feel this is a normal reaction in teenagers regarding his worrying about his health and body image. But pain in his ears or pressure could be because of his swimming without plugging the ears.

I want you to talk to him about his bodily changes which are going to take place rapidly now, including gaining height and at the same time because of that he might relatively look leaner. More over tell him that both of you (his parents) too experience the same in this age. This will boost up his image and self confidence.
