Question: Hi Sir,
From last 1 month, my sister used to feel little pricking feeling in right side breast. Then doctor advised her to get the following tests done.
1. MANTOUX Test
2. Serum Prolactin REPRODUCTIVE HORMONES PROFILE (FEMALE)
3. Thyroid Function Tests
4. Ultrasound
5. Digital Mammography
6. FNAC (U/S guided FNAC)
So, I need an opinion on the report.

Brief Answer:
DETAILS ARE GIVEN BELOW.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query. Followings are my comments:

1) I have reviewed all attached reports. Digital mammography, ultrasound and FNAC reports confirm Right sided FIBROADENOMA. It causes little pricking feeling in her right breast. It is MOSTLY a BENIGN tumor.

2) Thyroid and Serum prolactin hormone profiles are NORMAL. Mantoux Test is NEGATIVE for TB.

3) TREATMENT: a) Initially, she needs close monitoring and clinical follow-up with drug treatment like Ormeloxifene (Centchroman) as tumor size is small at present.

b) If medical treatment DOESN'T respond well, then CRYOABLATION can be done to destroy tumor tissue. It is safe, effective and minimally-invasive alternative to open surgical removal. Size should be less than 4 cm before performing this.

c) Surgical Excision of fibroadenoma is the BEST and GOLD STANDARD treatment modality as her mother had breast carcinoma. It is the last treatment to avoid future LOW risk of cancer after 50 yrs.

Hope, I have answered your query in detailed manner. Kindly, visit to your GENERAL SURGEON for proper management of the case.

Wish her good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
