Question : My PA prescribed Seroquel 25mg to help with sleep issues. It helped me to sleep better for sure but after about 10 days of taking it I started having mild flu like symptoms for about 2 weeks and severe night sweats for about 10 days . I thought it was a milder kind of flu since I had had a flu shot in Oct. When the symptoms wouldn't go away, I realized the only thing new was the Seroquel. However, I couldn't quite find those symptoms online. I did stop taking it and the symptoms went away in two days. Still have a little bit of night sweats. Could this be the Seroguel or a coincidence and it was a bit of a flu?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

To my knowledge and in my experience, Seroquel does not cause flu-like symptoms nor night sweats. I believe it was simply a coincidence that you experienced these symptoms on Seroquel -- it was much more likely a viral infection.

Thank you Dr. Sheppe. This is very good to know, because the Seroquel was really helping with my insomnia. Happy to know I can start taking it again. I would like to stay in contact with you for further questions. Do you just specialize in Psychiatric care?
