What Causes Profuse Sweating At Night In A Person With Thyroid Disorder?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: Hi, doc. I just recently began sweating at night. We sleep with a window unit and the central a/c so it's definitely not hot in our room. My main areas that sweat are near my breast and thighs. I am 32 and I do take some medicines. I have Hoshimoto's and IBS. I take Synthroid for the Hoshimoto's. Celexa and Linzess for IBS. The strange thing is that I am usually very cold before I go to bed and once I am in a deep sleep, I begin to sweat.
I forgot to add that I do take birth control

Brief Answer:
What amount of synthroid and celexa do you take?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this profuse sweating that you have. The fact that it is localized makes it to be less of a generalized condition than would have been expected if your medications were being overdosed. For how long have you been having these symptoms and what are the average temperatures in the neighborhood where you live. Do you use a blanket while in bed?

Let me hear from you so that I can provide more insights to this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am currently taking 20 mg of Celexa and 75mcg of Synthroid. It has been 45 to 60 degrees in the area. I sleep with a sheet and thin blanket, less than a centimeter thick.

Brief Answer:
For how long has this been going on?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Please tell me for how long this has been going on? Also, if this has not been going on for long, please I will suggest that monitor again. These symptoms are not very suggestive of a specific condition and we would definitely need more information before we conclude about this.

Let me here from you.

Brief Answer:
When was the last time you got your TSH checked!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for this response. I will like to see your TSH levels controlled. This may be a sign of over medication. Celexa and synthroid all work together to do excite the body. What makes me a little bit off balance is that this is so localized to just a few parts of your body.

Let me know when you get any results on this.

I don't know if I would be the greatest help there. I do remember him saying one was 10 and the other 1

Brief Answer:
Please, can you ask for the results and upload?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up.

Please, can you please ask your doctor about these numbers. Your symptoms are not specific and I will really need so much more information to help guide me make a more reasonable progress. If you could upload your results for review, I will be more than happy.

Please, let me hear from you.
