Question : Dr. Rynne, I am a 78 year old female with a bleeding disorder. I have had the disorder since birth. I first noticed excessive bleeding when I was six and had my tonsils out. No one started to discover what it was until I was 71. I had to have a knee replacement and informed the doctor I was a free bleeder. He askwhat type I told him I did not know and explained why. I think he did not believe me until he almost stopped the surgery because I do not clot. Afterwards he said he would not do the other one until we found out what the problem was. The blood Doctor had run every von Willebrand(?) test with them being negative XXXXXXX Cone & Wake Forest have given up. No one else in my family has a bleeding disorder.do any of the 195 Doctors have any ideas?

You have mentioned only about Von willebrand test result. What other tests you have had.
What is your platelet count? Have you been tested for clotting factors' deficiency?
Are you on any medications?
I am sure you would have consulted Haematologist. What was their diagnosis.
