What Causes Progressive Weakening Of Voice?

Try prokinetics & consult a good speech therapist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
Progressive weakening of voice could be due to various reasons such as:
1. Age related changes in the structure of the vocal cords and the laryngeal framework.
2. Decreased vital capacity of the lungs.
3. Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux, secondary to the reflux of acid from the stomach into the throat.
4. Poor vocal cord hygiene.
5. Dehydration, etc.
Even though, the larynx looks normal on examination, various other factors need to be taken into consideration before arriving at a diagnosis.
My humble suggestions to you are:
1. Take frequent sips of warm water. Warm water keeps the mucosa hydrated and helps in easy movement of the vocal cords.
2. Do steam inhalation- Warm air reduces any congestion present over the vocal cords and the arytenoids.
3. Along with rabeprazole you need to take prokinetic such as metachlopromide or domperidone to prevent the acid reflux, if any.
4. Avoid excessive straining of voice.
5. Avoid chilled food/beverages/smoking/coffee.
6. Consult a voice therapist for identification and rectification of speech issues.
Hope I have answered your queries; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
