What Causes Prolonged Persistent Headaches?

my name is gurbinder. i am 24 years old. i have been having headache from last 6 years. All the tests(mri and ct scan) are normal. i feel mild continous headache with mild pain under left eye. i do not even know now how it feels without headache. i feel weakness all the time and sleep a lot. i cant even concentrate on anything for long. i took antidepressants( Dadid 100, PariCr 50,calaptin) and indocap for continously four years. while taking medicine i used to feel little relief not much. i dont know if it was due to antidepressants or indocap. i have stopped taking medicine from last two months and feel little head jerks sometimes now but not much. i have been to number of neurologists but it didnot work. i am now fed up with this problem and it is affecting my studies and life. i always feel tired to work. i donot know if its neurological problem or some other problem.
please help!!!
Symptoms are suggestive of tension type headache.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms. It is unfortunate that you have been suffering from long and have not benefitted from most treatments.
I agree that the symptoms are highly suggestive of tension type headache (TTH). In TTH, there is no mind tension, but the tension is there in the scalp muscles.
The best medicine for treating TTH in my experience is Prothiaden (Dothiepin). I usually start a dose of 25 mg at bedtime, and increase to 50-75 mg later if needed.
Normal MRI of brain rules out any serious causes of headaches such as blood clots, infections of brain and brain tumors.
I hope it helps.

i understand that symptoms can be of TTH. shall i undergo some other tests to rule out chances of any other problem(anemia, thyroid)??
i am having pain in my penis tip from last two months and my urologist has diagnosed chronic prostatits. is this side effect of long term usage of antidepressants and painkillers??
I went to a psychiatrist near to my place . He told me that they have machine which balances brain chemicals. Is there any machine of this kind or he is just saying to make money??
after taking medicine for long, i am afraid of side effects and dont knw if i should continue with medication??
waiting for your reply!!
Medicines are safe.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back and providing more information.
There is no real need, however, you can get tested for anemia and thyroid disorders, just to rule them out.
Prostatis is a separate problem and not the side effects of painkillers and antidepressants.
I have not heard of any machine to balance the brain chemicals. Can you ask him about the name of that machine?
Antidepressants are safe even in the long term.
Best wishes,
