What Causes Protein In My Urine?

Requires evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM.
We are here to help you.
Presence of protein in urine is called as Proteinuria.
There are many causes of prtoeinuria. The most common are:
1.Dehydration
2.Strenuous exercise
3.Stress like in fever
4.Nephrotic or Nephritic syndrome.
5.Diabetic or Hypertensive nephropathy
6.Drugs (e.g. NSAIDs)
7.Infections (e.g. HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, poststreptococcal infection)
Now, if you have any recent sore throat or fever, this might be due to Post Streptococcal infection.
However, proteinuria due to stress like fever, Urinary tract infections are usually transient and improve with time.
Get your blood pressure and blood sugars checked.
But if protienuria is >3.5 grams/24 hours, it requires further evaluation.
I would advise you to get following investigations done:
1. ASO Titres
2. 24 Hour urine protein or Urine Protein to Creatinine ratio
3. Ultrasound Abdomen.
4. Kidney Function test.
If your 24 Hour urine protein is >3.5 gm, you would require kidney biopsy to rule out nephrotic syndrome and the type pf Glomerulonephritis.
If it is transient due to fever or Urinary Tract infection, it should get clear in your next Urine Routine and microscopy test.
I hope it helps.

repeat the urine test
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Hepatitis C is associated with many vasculitis and glomerulonephritis.
You should get a repeat urine test done.
In case , proteinuria is still found, then you would require all the investigations that i have mentioned previously.
Abdomen pain associated with proteinuria can occur in case you have stones in your renal tract. That would be evident on your Ultrasound abdomen.
I hope it helps.

Itching seems to be unrelated.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Itching seems to be unrelated to proteinuria.
There must be other reasons behind the itching. See a dermatologist for that. You may also post a query to our website addressing a dermatologist.
Good Luck.

This seems to be Muscular pain.
Do hot fomentation of the affected area and apply Diclofenac gel locally.
