Question : Hi, I have been swimming a lot during the past week for short periods of time. Ever since I flew home from my trip I feel pressure in my sinuses, cheeks and forehead when I turn my head a certain way. I really need to swim tomorrow for a synchronized swimming show practice which requires flipping around a lot and of course getting water in my ears yet again.
Thank you for any suggestions you might have.

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of sinusitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Besty,welcome to HCM forum.
Your symptoms are typically suggestive of acute sinusitis(heaviness in and around sinus area, exacerbated by head movements).
This needs treatment with antibiotics and antihistamines for a few days.I usually give antibiotics like azithromycin or amoxicillin+clavulonate, along with Levocetirezine for 5-7 days.Ear drops are unlikely to help in this situation.
Your doctor will guide you.
Meanwhile,it is important to avoid further exposure to cold.If your tomorrows exposure is unavoidable, see your doctor to start antibiotic, and you can use Levocetirezine 5mg when going to bed(but this may cause some sedation).Simple analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen will help in relieving the heaviness.Steam inhalation will reduce sinus congestion.
And stick to your doctors advise after the show.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
