What Causes Pulsating Feeling In The Left Side Of Body?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: Vibration/pulsation in left hand side of body. Did start with the foot, then over time has progressed up the leg and now all of the left hand side vibrates/pulsates. Have done breathing exercise that have worked in the past. But am finding it more difficult to get rid of. It appears to come in waves. I drive for a automatic vehicle for a living, would this have anything to do with it Am also going through menapouse

Brief Answer:
Read below.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I am sorry about the symptoms you are experiencing. I also read the exchange you had with my colleague Dr Panwar.

By considering that description I must agree with the answer previously given to you and confirm that that description doesn't look typical for any neurologic lesion and the most probable cause might be anxiety. The fact that you are going through menopause makes that even more probable as hormonal fluctuations are related to anxiety and abnormal sensations like tingling, numbness or the one you describe.
I would suggest you do some routine blood tests like thyroid function, vitamin B12, electrolytes, liver and kidney function tests, blood count as at times they might reveal abnormalities which can be associated with such abnormal sensations.
If the symptoms persist over time with all the rest coming back normal the possibility of scheduling an MRI might be considered. Of course it should be preceded by a physical exam and if it reveals no neurological signs I believe the MRI will come out normal as well, but because of the symptoms being limited to only half of your body (more often with anxiety they are on both sides), if they persist an MRI is a reasonable option.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
