What Causes Pulsating Sensation And Throbbing On Right Side Of Neck?

Question: I started to feel pulsating and throbbing on the right side of my neck. Not sure if that is a concern

Hello,
Thanks for using healthcare magic. Pain in neck is mostly due to nerve compression in neck. It can radiate to head, shoulder and arm. Before I advised you anything I would like to know little detail of the illness.
1.How did it started, Did you had any jerk in neck?
2.Is this associated with tingling, numbness or giddiness?
3.Do you have Diabetes or smoking ?

It is not really pain in my neck it was a throbbing and pulsating feeling in my vein on the right side I could palpate the throbbing which lasted only a few seconds. I do not have diabetes no smoking no tingling numbness or giddiness. Thank you for your help.

Hello,
Thanks for replying.it is good that you do not have neck pain. Still chances of nerve compression is high. I would recommend you to take following steps.
1.Check your blood pressure as high BP can cause such pain.
2.Take Brufen 400 mg for pain relief.
3.Hot water fomentation and volini gel local application.
3.If this pain happen again then we need to take x ray of the neck to see if there is any abnormality of the spine.
4.Avoid using very high pillow or any jerk on neck.
Pulsating pain is typical of nerve compression or high BP. It is usually improves with rest and medicines. I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
