What Causes Pulsating Sensation Below The Sternum?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: High on my abdomen, left side, near by not up to my chest, I am (last 24 hours or so) having a feeling like there is activity inside, as in - as unimportant as gas, although it is awfully high up for that I would think; or as serious maybe as an aneurism pulsing... I am 77 years old, have a defibrillator (V-Fib six years ago), overweight. Of interest perhaps is about a 3 weeks ago I had an airbag explode on me, bruised my chest horribly, left me with a couple of hematomas, one in each breast; they seem to be dissipating and the bruising is nearly gone. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM, by 'activity' do you feel it is rhythmic or kind of ran

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM, by 'activity' do you feel it is rhythmic or kind of random? If it is rhythmic then we have to think of a cause in your arteries, probably aorta. But if it is kind of a random activity, it may still be gas in the fundus of the stomach which is quite high up (just below the chest). Why not take an OTC for gas and maybe acidity (which can also cause gastritis), and if it does not subside/ increases--please see your doctor. I do not think your airbag bursting injury has anything to do with it unless you took strong anti-inflammatory drugs. You can revert back--regards

Thanks, Doctor; I have taken a couple of rolaids and will see it that helps. I have an appointment with my heart doctor's PA on Wednesday, optimistic I'll last until then! If the results of the election don't kill me -
Just kidding, as they say -
Thank you very much, I'll close out now.
