Question : I have a diarreha condition and the stool is dark purple to black. I have had diverticulitus in the past. I am 73 male I have no pain or fever. I have been self treating for 5 days with clear ddiet and clear liquids.
Brief Answer:
Upper gut bleeding
Detailed Answer:
hi,
Thanks for query.
Dark colored stool represents upper gut bleeding in general. It may be from stomach or duodenum. If you had taken too many pain killers earlier for diverticulitis it c
can cause ulcer n bleeding.
It may be different from diverticulitis.
I suggest a general abdominal examination by primary doctor. it is essential because clear fluids did not correct your condition.
It is not good to stay back without physician consultation.
