What Causes Radiating Pain In Ear And Brain, Sensitive Scalp And Sore Throat?

Question: Have sharp pain in ear that goes up to my brain. Scalp is very sensitive. Went to clinic and was prescribed 5 day antibiotic am now on 5day and no better. Also have sore throat and hard to swallow on same side as ear.

If there is a clear infective focus then the antibiotics choice should be reviewed and preferably culture sensitivity testing samples should be obtained from both the ear and throat.

Alternative diagnosis such as herpes zoster otticus and trigeminal neuralgia should be looked for and treated accordingly. Ideally an ENT specialist consultation would be required and if needed.
