Question: I sometimes have pain on my lower left side, into my leg, into anal area & sometimes my whole abdominal area swells like I'm 6 mos pregnant. Sometimes it's a burning pain, sometimes a stabbing pain. I am 62 yrs old & had my right ovary removed 20 yrs ago because it was twisted & haven't had a cycle in 19 yrs.
In my early 30 I had endometriosis..

Brief Answer:
Colitis may be the reason

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/62 - had right ovary removed 20 years back for twisting - no cycles 19 years - had endometriosis in your early 30 - pap few days ago- NP said, she would refer for ultrasonography if it occurs again - taking medicines for acid reflux - pain in lower left - into legs, anal area and sometimes whole abdominal area swells like 6 months pregnancy - burning/stabbing ...

Please give some additional information for me to assist you further:
- Since when have you got this problem?
- Any other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, loose stools or hard stools/constipation?

I would think about the following and advise accordingly:
Apparently looks like colitis as this is on left lower side with pain in the lower left, leg, anal area and swelling like 6 months pregnancy.
- X-ray of the abdomen on swelling of the abdomen is sometimes diagnostic (needs to be done when there is swelling)
- Tests of stool, blood and urine.
- Ultrasound should help/CT scan to further clarify if needed.
- colonoscopy may be diagnostic.
- Clinical evaluation by your Doctor, preferably by a General; Surgeon and correlation with the investigations would give you the diagnosis and a plan for further management.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
