                                            Question : Good Morning,
I've been experiencing random bouts of lower abdominal pain, usually in the morning. The pain seems to subside after a bowel movement(s). In 2008 I had a colonoscopy that was negative for polyps or cancer but did indicate mild diviculities. It also seems that the pain i'm experiencing is after I have changed my diet to more vegetable based.

                                    Brief Answer:
Diverticulitis can be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
If the pain is more to the left, diverticulitis (inflammation of divertilces) is the most probable reason indeed. You need to know that such inflammation can lead to intestine perforation, therefore, proper treatment is advisable.
Before the treatment, abdominal CT should be done to rule out possible complications. With active inflammation, antibiotics (along with RIfaximinie), fiber rich diet are advisable.
I suggest you to consult your doctor.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
