Brief Answer:
Allergy to metal may be the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. The suffering your father is going through is may be due to an allergy or hypersensitivity to the metallic components of the implant. Symptoms may include warmth or swelling at the knee, a skin rash. This complication although rare but may occur.
To confirm this a special test, the lymphocyte transformation test (LTT) which looks at a patients sensitivity to certain metals may be done. You may contact an allergist for this.
Meanwhile continue to use prednisolone as advised.
Hope this helps. I shall be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
