Question : Hello, and 'thank you' for taking my call ...
Three days ago, I noticed a rash on left bicept that seems to be spreading. Moreover, there is throbbing pain from within and a rather hard bump. The bump has now grown to the size of a hotdog, reaching up to near my underarm. Externally, it is now starting to itch. My wife wondered if perhaps it was due to a spider bite because there is a little spot that looks like it could be. I don't think so but I don't know, either. Just wondered!

Hello

I have studied your case.
Rash with itching and spread of swelling suggest possibility of insect bite,

Another possibility of cellulitis with abscess formation.
As swelling is increasing you need to consult your treating doctor for clinical examination and rule out abscess with infection.
There is possibility of lymph node involvement leading to armpit swelling.

I will advise to do further blood investigation and FNAC of swelling should be done.
Till time you can start anti allergic medication and if required antibiotic consulting your GP.
