What Causes Rash That Runs In A Line From Ankle To Top Of Thigh?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Oct 2014
Question: Hi,
I have a rash that runs in a line from near my ankle, right up to the top of the thigh on the back of my left leg.
I noticed a rough patch at the top of my calf muscle a few weeks ago, but it has got worse in recent days.
I am travelling soon and getting a bit worried about it.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Topical mometasone

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for writing to us on HCM.
From review of clinical picture and history, it seems like you have developed insect bite dermatitis. I would also like to keep another condition called lichen striatus as clinical differential.
Anyways, the treatment for both is more or less same.
I would suggest you application of a cream containing Mometasone and fusidic acid twice a day for 10-15 days.
Apply soothing moisturizing lotion, 1 hour after applying the above mentioned medicated cream.
Take antihistaminics like Benadryl as required for any itching.
Avoid pricking and scratching of lesions.
I am sure you wil be fine soon with the treatment highlighted.
Thank you
