What Causes Rashes Around The Anal Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: Im going to be as specific as possible. When i stand up for a long time, i realize my anal area gets moist. and it feels like its burning. and i get a rash around the hole, but on the inside of my butt cheeks. I get it when i work often. I also work at a warehouse and temperatures get high and thats when it happens the most. Like if i were to spread my cheeks you'd see it. It's like a circle almost. I really just hope theres an OTC ointment that would help. Also i now have a brown mark around the area where i used to itch. Its not rough or bumpy, its the feeling of normal skin, just brown colored. And it's seriously so embarrasing. Its literally a circle in the inside of my cheeks. A brown circle. Please tell me what i can do

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have noted down your concern.

I think you most likely have a fungal infection along with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Sweating, heat are the likely predisposing factors. Body folds are warm and can trap moisture/ sweat and this would encourage fungus to grow.
Itching also suggests that it is most likely a fungal infection.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest that you apply an OTC topical antifungal e.g miconazole nitrate 2% Or clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily for 4 weeks.

Thereafter I would suggest you to use an antifungal dusting powder e.g clotrimazole dusting powder, in the folds, regularly. Antifungal dusting powder will keep the folds dry and also being antifungal in nature would therefore discourage fungal growth.

An otc oral antihistamine e.g etrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.

Regards
