
What Causes Rashes On Shin After Taking Xarelto?

Question: I am on Xarelto for atrial fibrillation. Noticed that I now have a lot of petichiae onmy shins and a couple of insect bites that began to look strange with a bright red circle around them. Is this a concern?

Hi,
Xarelto is an anti coagulant used to prevent clot formation in static atrium of heart due to Atrial fibrillation. In simple terms, it is a blood thinner.
You have probably developed toxicity.
Please specify if you are on any other drug like ASPRIN or CLOPIDOGREL???

I am not taking any other blood thinners, but am on anastrozole, atenolol, losartan and hydrochlorothzide.

you may keep a watch over the petechiea. If they grow in number, you need to consult your cardiologist. Generally, they fade away in 4-5 days, in which case you need to take no further action.
