Question : I am on Xarelto for atrial fibrillation. Noticed that I now have a lot of petichiae onmy shins and a couple of insect bites that began to look strange with a bright red circle around them. Is this a concern?

Brief Answer: Are you on any other drug like ASPRIN/CLOPIDOGREL? Detailed Answer: Hi, Xarelto is an anti coagulant used to prevent clot formation in static atrium of heart due to Atrial fibrillation. In simple terms, it is a blood thinner. You have probably developed toxicity. Please specify if you are on any other drug like ASPRIN or CLOPIDOGREL??? It is important to know.

I am not taking any other blood thinners, but am on anastrozole, atenolol, losartan and hydrochlorothzide.

Brief Answer: rash may be related to xarelto. Detailed Answer: Hi, Sorry for delayed response. At this point, we can only presume, the rash is related to xarelto. you may keep a watch over the petechiea. If they grow in number, you need to consult your cardiologist. Generally, they fade away in 4-5 days, in which case you need to take no further action. All the best.
