default
Posted on Wed, 7 Jan 2015
Question: I take walks around my neighborhood but in the past 4 months or so when I take the walks I have rectal bleeding. I can feel a burning pain and sometimes a strong itch and then when i get home I wipe and there will be bright red blood on the tissue. I don't have bleeding during bowel movements.

Brief Answer:
Bleeding from your genitalia to rule out...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

You are reporting to feel a burning pain and sometimes a strong itch when you have your walks around your neighborhood.

You are also reporting the presence of bright red blood on the tissue when you wipe. Apart rectal bleeding, if I was your caring doctor would advise to run further tests to rule out bleeding from your genitalia:
- further consultation with gynecologist and proctologist
- sigmoidoscopy
- rectal examination
- stool examination for ova/parasites
- abdominal ultrasound

If everything is ok, then, what you feel might be related to bowel movements induced by walking; while the bright red blood on tissue after wipe might be related to quality of tissue (non-soft type).

Hope it was of help!

It's not from my vagina I got a mirror and looked at my anal area before I wiped with the toilet paper. It's from inside my rectum. Could it be hemmroids? There was blood before I wiped so I know it's not the toilet paper. I use to have itching after bowel movements but it's almost gone away

Brief Answer:
Internal hemorrhoids to be further evaluated...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing more of your medical data.

From what you are describing, it seems to be internal hemorrhoids. I advise to consult with proctologist for further evaluations.

For the moment, I advise to:
- avoid constipation
- consume more water
- avoid excessive straining during bowel movements
- take more foods high in fiber

Hope it was of help!
