Question : Ive been on here once before and was asking questions about recurring urinary track infections, back pain, pelvic pain. I had every test possible for my Bladder and it was found that my Bladder does not contract. Then I had an MRI of my lumbar Spine and they found a moderately large Tarlov cyst. I went to see and neurosurgeon and he said it would not cause any of my symptoms so he sent me for a MRI of my c spine. I had previous surgery of my C spine with fusions. now the report said I have osteophyte complex which effaces the ventral CSF space. I continue to have reccurent UTI back pain and pelvic pain with numbness down my leg and am at my witsend!!!!!!!!!
Brief Answer:
Can cause back pain only.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
You need to understand that these are two different issues:
1. Recurrent Urinary tract infection
2. Back pain.
They both can only be correlated in case of stones in the renal tract that caused pain and UTI.
So, first of all recurrent UTI needs evaluation for stones, blood sugar and if that is normal we treat both the husband and wife.
Females have more predisposition for UTI due to various reasons like short urethra.
I would advice you to make sure that you consume plenty of oral fluids.
Now as far as back pain due to the cyst is concerned then yes it can be a cause pain, tingling and numbness. Now if there is tingling and numbness associated with weakness of the leg then it would require a surgical intervention. Otherwise pain responds well to Pregabalin and Duloxetine.
So, that's my brief summarization for your issues.
Now you may ask me if you have any doubt's regarding this.
