Question : My girl child 7 yrs has chills 96 F under armpit. Relieved after giving Fenceta syrup (paracetamol & ibuprofen) but recurs after 3 hrs. Is it an internal fever? The body temperature was low.
Brief Answer:
No, it is not 'internal fever'
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I do not think that it is 'internal fever' and Fenceta syrup (paracetamol & ibuprofen) need not be given unless the temperature is raised. Rather, it could be due to a pyrogenic reaction which has an allergic component and giving phenergan (promethazine) should help.

yesterday I had given her Phenergan syrup 5ml which is 5mg. Was the dose too low?
Brief Answer:
The dose varies with body weight
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking back.
Phenergan (promethazine) can be given at the dose of 0.1 mg/kg (maximum 12.5 mg) given by mouth every 6 hours as needed. It is ok to give 5 ml to your child but the exact dose will need to be calculated based on her body weight.

Her temperature elevated this morning to 102F.
Brief Answer:
If temperature is raised, give her paracetamol
Detailed Answer:
If the temperature is greater than 100°F, you need to give her Fenceta syrup (paracetamol & ibuprofen). The dose should be 15 mg/kg/dose of paracetamol. You should also give tepid sponging.
