What Causes Recurrent Fever In The Evening?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 Jun 2017
Question: I have several issues , but the one symptom that worries me the most is recurrent mild fever in the evening .
101.4. oral thermometer. Last night I woke up at 3 am soaked (sweat). And felt great. Ready to start the day.
My usual day starts 6 am and ends at 7 when I can relax watch news, sprts or a movie. I am 76. Try to care for my health by eating right and being active. I also have had a running nose and it is just clear phlegm. I was thinking it is allergy from dust because i go once a week to see flag football games and there is a lot of dust raised .

Brief Answer:
Are you having the running nose at this time?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for contacting us at health care magic.

I have reviewed your information fully and will like to obtain some more details before providing a definitive response.

1. Do you have a running nose at this time? Did the fever set after this started or before? In all, how long have you had this running nose?

2. Besides the fever, do you have any other symptom such as dry cough? Difficulties breathing?

A running nose and fever might point to an upper respiratory tract infection. Most such infections are caused by viruses and generally do not need antibiotics. Managing with Tylenol for fever and aches while the body clears up the infection is the general approach unless something else sets in.

Before narrowing to my final thoughts and recommendation, let me hear back from you at your earliest convenience and promise to follow up with you as soon as your responses get here.

running nose, clear white phlegm has been on going for over 4 weeks. I go sundays to see flag footballs games. a 2 hour period where I am exposed to loose dirt from the layers as they play. I do have cough but it started a couple of days backdrip as a back when I am face up in bed. I can help clear the throat with a swallow of water.

Brief Answer:
Probably allergic rhinitis!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is probably an allergy. I might suggest that you refrain from going to the flag football games as always. I will also recommend that you take Zyrtec daily to control these symptoms. Keep me updated about the response to this treatment.

Awaiting your updates.

I was hoping it was an allergy and I used to have that allergy when I coached high school football back in the late 60s & early 70s. It was not there since I changed to a job where I was either driving or in the office. I will update you as I will take your advice and look for a change.
