Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

You have mentioned that she gets itching and bulges every 2-3 days. I would like to since when is she having itching?

Does she have any other medical history other than diabetes like allergy or any gastric issues?
Has she started any new medication or food or any contact with new thing like clothes or detergent or any?
When did she start cetrizine?

Kindly get back to me with details.

Thank you.

Hello doctor, thanks for your instant reply.

This problem started almost a year back and she has some gastric issues for which she usually takes zintec whenever she feels like.

Also, she had tuberculosis around 4 years back but now she is ok. Apart from this we call this itching & bulges as allergy and a doctor suggested her cetrizine after a blood test which was also done a year back or so.

But now I feel the problem has increased and its only preventable through cetrizine and is not getting cured permanently.

Otherwise we had not observed that is she facing this as an allergy from some food or clothing etc.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for your information.

It is difficult to say which causing allergy, diabetes itself can cause itching and some external stimuli like weather, dry skin, dust, pollen and drugs can cause allergy

I suggest you to switch to other anti histamines like Fexofenadine (Allegra) 120 mg once a day or 60 mg twice a day after consulting your doctor.

If she will not improve with it then better visit an allergist to rule out cause of allergens.
I also suggest blood test to rule out anemia.
If you already done thyroid profile and if it normal then no need to repeat it.

Rarely metformin can cause skin allergy (Daonil M contains metformin).

I also suggest you try notice that when she gets allergy specifically after having any food or any
Change her soap. Use mild soap like baby soap or dove soap.

Lactocalamine lotion will help her.
Do not take bath with hot water. Use warm water.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.

Thank you
