Brief Answer:
Most probably Hidradenitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/39 - recurrent small lumps in armpit - comes and goes (without treatment) - wants to know the cause...

If the small lumps are arising from the skin the most probable cause can be hidradenitis suppurativa. In this condition the superficial glands of the skin get blocked, infected and once the skin gets adjusted to, it may heal on its own to recur once the conditions become unfavorable.

Please give additional information:
Can you please post clear and focused pictures.
Since when have you got this problem?
Are the small swellings in the skin only or deep within the armpits?
Do you work in the hot and humid atmosphere.
Any medical problems like diabetes or so?

Awaiting your feedback.
